Carys’ Candles to Calm – A Passion turns into a Goal Achievement!
Carys has been with Interchange for many years and her happy demeanor and enthusiasm for life are making her thrive. She enjoys learning new things and growing more independent.
My Support Workers have given me confidence to pursue my hobbies and interests, in particular in the art field.
In 2021 Carys discovered the hobby of making candles. At the time she found it relaxing and more importantly the fragrances would boost her overall mental health. Carys wanted to see if there was a way to make her passion for arts and crafts turn into more than a hobby.
I started exploring different art interests with edge employment solutions at the end of 2022. It was there that I found my niche of candle making. […] My job at the time wasn’t offering me many hours a week so it felt natural filling the time doing something I enjoy whilst providing a service to others.
Her own ‘Candle to Calm’ business is a wonderful achievement in her goal of becoming more independent and the wish to accomplish a fulfilling role in her social community space.
Carys loves being creative and one of her main motivators in running her own business is the creation of environmentally friendly candles. Her customers can reach out to her and get unique designs, sizes and scents made for the individual liking.
The most interesting part about the art is that not one candle order is the same.
Carys also offers workshops where her participants are DIY lovers from all over Perth, and they get to learn how to combine wax, scent and décor to create beautiful candles.
