Roxanne’s Pottery Passion

Main Content

For many years, our lovely customer Roxanne, from our Belmont Neighbourhood has been creating pottery art.

When she was only a child she picked up her first piece of clay at a pottery class she went to with her mother. Her mum was also the one to suggest Roxanne do a TAFE course in Environmental Art and Design – which she did and it included pottery, metal work, textiles and woodwork. She realised that pottery was the subject she enjoyed the most and it formed into her greatest passion.

Roxanne truly relishes the creative outlet pottery provides, as well as the social aspect of gathering with fellow artists for classes. She says that participating in art shows and receiving awards for her creations (she recently won the Kelmscott Show), along with having people purchase her handmade items, is incredibly fulfilling.

She has a very large repertoire and enjoys creating all different kinds of pottery. The limitless possibilities of creativity inspire her, as does her own growth curve from not knowing much about pottery at all to creating magnificent, award-winning designs.

Roxanne also truly cherishes the encouragement and support from her Support Worker Pamela.

Pamela encourages me a lot and gives me great feedback on different pieces and suggestions of things to make. I have known her for 6 years and we have formed a close and genuine bond. Without Pam I would not be able to attend my pottery classes where I teach others different pottery techniques.

Congratulations – Roxanne, on your awards and all the stunning pieces you create!
