Qantas has made the dream of one Perth planespotter come true, with a private, money-buy tour of their facilities at the Perth Domestic Airport.
Customer Service Manager Richard Arndt arranged the tour for aircraft enthusiast and Interchange customer Andrew Porter and his support worker, Katie.
Richard and the other Qantas staff went to great lengths to accommodate Andrew and Katie in their busy schedule. The day started with a personalised boarding pass organised by Tracy at the Service Desk.
Damian and his staff in Movement Control then took the time to answer all of Andrew’s questions, and located an aircraft that was available for a tour. Qantas Customer Service Officer, Penna, with her usual warmth and humour, gave a great deal of her time to guide Andrew and Katie onto the tarmac and around the parked aircraft. Andrew and Katie were then treated to a personal tour of the recently refitted A330 aircraft and the Boeing 737 “Retro Roo”.
Andrew, who has previously visited Seattle for a tour of Boeing’s headquarters, was full of questions and announced that the Dreamliner was his favourite aircraft.
The once in a lifetime tour ended at the new Qantas Business Lounge, where Chrissy and her team ensured Andrew and Katie experienced the best Qantas can offer in the new Business Lounge. Lunch was provided by Qantas pizza chef Anand, who was just removing the first of the lunchtime pizzas as the tour concluded.
Andrew and Katie were blown away by the behind the scenes tour, and were left with a hint that they may be able to tour Qantas’s new Dreamliner when it comes onto the Qantas network.
That would be another dream come true said Andrew.
Andrew’s visit also caused waves at Qantas, featuring in the WA newsletter, as well as the magazine distributed to all Qantas staff worldwide.
