Interchange customers Claudia, Kristina and Rita shared a goal they had been working on for a while; they wanted to go on a girls holiday.
So with the support of Interchange staff, they worked together to achieve this goal and took a week-long trip to Monkey Mia at the end of June.
The girls, supported by Interchange Community Facilitator Michelle Maley, stayed at the Heritage Beach Resort in Shark Bay. They were really impressed with the staff at the resort, who went out of their way to make them feel welcome.
The week was spent exploring the area – shopping, dinners, a visit to the hot springs, a pearl farm and the ocean aquarium – and of course seeing the famous Monkey Mia dolphins.
Staff from the resort spread the word that the team from Interchange were there, so the girls were even lucky enough to receive special discounts and support from the locals and shop owners!
For these ladies, this trip was more than just a casual holiday. It also represented a series of ‘firsts’, including Claudia’s first holiday away from Perth and Kristina and Rita’s first trip away without their families.
Kristina had also been fearful of flying, but she conquered that fear and is now ready for her next trip!
