I want to support people with disability to have the freedom to make choices about how they want to live their lives, without the barriers of society expectation.”
Meet Marianne Rose!
Marianne is the newest member of our board and truly a breath of fresh air. The self-proclaimed coffee snob, harp player and furbaby mumma loves to try new things and will give everything a go – even if it means doing yoga with baby goats.
I love a challenge, I love trying new things, it might be a little bit scary, or outside our comfort zone, but going through change helps us grow into the best version of ourselves. Embrace change.”
When not out and about seeking a challenge, Marianne is running her own legal practice specialising in commercial and governance matters. Before becoming a lawyer, Marianne cared for people with cerebral palsy, an experience that made her want to continue to contribute to the disability sector and join the Interchange Board.
I have wanted to give back to the disability sector for a long time but didn’t know how to best use my skills to do so. Being a director means I can use my legal and governance skills to support people with disability and the organisation.”
Marianne strongly believes there are creative and design thinking based solutions that can be used to ensure society is ‘fit for purpose’ for all members, rather than expecting all members to fit within existing structures.
A disability is an aspect that impacts our life, it doesn’t define who we are. We all have hopes and dreams, see the person, not the disability.”
In her free time, Marianne loves to spend time with her husband Max and their little furbaby Hamish McGruff. She openly admits that Hamish is one spoilt schnauzer who has his own Instagram account and is also the superstar of a book that Marianne wrote about him. Phenomenal!
Welcome to Interchange, Marianne and we are all looking forward to working with you and obviously meeting Hamish McGruff.
