Meet our kind-hearted Support Star Emily from our Rockingham Neighbourhood.
Her bags are half packed and ready for her next, big adventure – once COVID permits. The travel itch has been real for her as she usually spends a lot of time exploring the world.
While she waits for the pandemic to settle, she finds time to enjoy some of her other interests. Emily and partner Thomas love going to new restaurants and experimenting different creations. Best if paired with a cheeky wine.
If she is not diving, fishing, camping, or hanging out with her friends she is heavily invested in her new career path – which chose her – as she said.
Honestly, I feel like the disability sector chose me it was a path I never thought I would take and now I’m so grateful that I did.
Emily finds supporting people with disability as the most rewarding thing she has ever done.
Everyone is just so inspiring; it makes me want to be a better advocate. I love the feeling of being able to empower someone to achieve a goal. Being able to help bring joy to somebody’s life, it’s just heartwarming. I love it.
Her message to others regarding people with disability is that everyone can achieve a goal, some people may just do it differently and that is ok. It’s important to have patience and an open mind. Emily wishes more people in the community would just take a moment to listen, as being heard brings people true joy!

And something you probably did not know about Emily, is that she has been donating her hair to Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF) for over 10 years. How cool is that?!
