Today we would like to take a minute and just say – Tina Portelli, We Think You Are AWESOME and we are so grateful, to have you as a part of our work family, here at Interchange.

Tina has worked with Interchange for the past five years and has developed greatly, from starting as the Administration Assistant, to now overseeing the NDIS Administration. More dominantly however, being somewhat a jack of all trades in the office. She really appreciates the added responsibility, as it makes work, a place, she unquestionably enjoys going to.

Something she wants us to know is – that she will always be there for everyone.

Not only her day-to-day work Tina is fond of, but also the overall atmosphere at Interchange makes her consider her fellow staff, as an extended part of her family.

“We treat each other not as colleagues, but as brother and sister.”

The way Tina thrives, is also very much linked to the reason why she chose to work in the disability sector, in the first place.

Her previous employment has never given her the feeling of supporting her community. Now however, when Tina wakes up in the morning, knowing she is about to go to work, she is aware of the fact, that she is helping those who cannot necessarily help themselves. When you help someone else, it gives you a sense of warmth, she says.

“For the first time in my life, I feel that this career gives me a sense of purpose.”

Tina’s message to other people regarding people with disability is, that the disability does not detract from the individual identity and that it is important to take the time and get the know the individual, to see the personality and soul.

‘Love those around you, as you would love yourself’, is Tina’s motto in life, she is guided by her faith and loves spending quality time with her family. She also enjoys cooking and spoiling her beautiful grandchildren.
