Harmeet is Driven by Trust and Appreciation 

Harmeet was nominated for this award in recognition of her calm and positive approach, not just with the people she supports, but also with her team and families. Her ability to solve problems with a consistently optimistic attitude has made her a pillar of strength and reliability within our Interchange community. 

With an impressive 13-year journey in disability supports, Harmeet has worn many hats: Support Worker, Team Leader, Roster Coordinator, and now Senior Support Worker. Her versatility and willingness to step into different roles reflect her deep commitment to learning and growing within the sector. 

One of the most inspiring stories from Harmeet’s career involves a customer who first arrived, struggling with severe behavioural challenges. Through unwavering support from her Support Team and lots of patience, the customer has made remarkable progress, no longer running away or displaying aggressive behaviours, and now actively participating in community events. It is stories like these that highlight the transformative power of dedicated support. 

What motivates Harmeet? It is the trust and appreciation she receives from both her colleagues and the people she supports. Knowing that others feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings with her is what fuels her passion every day. 

When asked which Interchange value resonates most with her, Harmeet chose Respect; a principle she both gives and expects in return.

Without giving respect, I cannot win the trust of anyone,” she says. 

Outside of work, Harmeet is a sporty soul with a love for badminton. Her enthusiasm for learning and taking on new challenges is evident not only in her professional life but also in her personal pursuits. 

Harmeet’s goal in life is to stay healthy, stay positive, and continue growing. With her heart in the right place and a spirit that uplifts everyone around her, there’s no doubt she will continue to make a lasting impact.
