Making Every Day Count: Tahmina’s Story of Support and Empowerment
At Interchange, we are proud to celebrate the incredible people who make a real difference every day and Tahmina, a dedicated Support Worker in our Mandurah neighbourhood, is one of those awesome Interchangers. Her ability to empower people, provide constructive feedback, and foster independence truly shows her going above and beyond.
Tahmina believes her everyday actions help people with disability gain confidence and take charge of their lives. Her work is grounded in the belief that empowerment is key and she sees that belief come to life in the progress of the people she supports.
There are some people I work with who have made incredible strides in their daily lives, watching their growth reminds me why this work is so meaningful, it’s about helping people achieve their goals.”
Tahmina is motivated by the opportunity to assist others with their daily activities and enhance their quality of life. Her role aligns perfectly with her skills and career goals, making her work not just a job, but a calling.
When Tahmina is not at work supporting people with disability live a great life she finds joy in gardening, cooking for her family, walking, and travelling. Staying active and connected helps her bring positive energy and patience into her support work.
For Tahmina, the most rewarding part of working in the disability sector is the chance to make a meaningful difference. She loves helping people gain independence and build confidence, and she thrives in an environment that values respect, inclusion, and growth.
Having been with Interchange /Diversity South for around four years, Tahmina has grown both professionally and personally. She has developed her communication skills, deepened her understanding of community engagement, and learned something new every day.
Among Interchange’s core values, Empowerment, Respect, Belonging, and Individuality, Tahmina resonates most with ‘Empowerment’. She believes everyone deserves the chance to make their own choices and live independently.
My goal in life is to continue growing as a person and making a positive impact on others, I want to keep learning, building meaningful connections, and helping people feel valued and included.”
Tahmina feels grateful to be in a role where she can contribute to creating a more inclusive community. Every day brings new challenges and rewards, and she is proud to be part of an organisation that truly makes a difference.
