Unlocking Potential: Tshering’s Impact at Interchange
As part of our Interchange Belmont Neighbourhood, Tshering is making a powerful impact as a Support Worker. Though relatively new to the organisation, having joined nearly a year ago, Tshering has already demonstrated a deep commitment to empowering people with disability and helping them lead more fulfilling lives.
Tshering’s journey into community service has been transformative, not just for those he supports, but for himself as well. Naturally introverted, he has embraced the challenges of working together with other Support Workers and engaging with the whole team. This role has helped him grow socially and professionally, boosting his confidence and communication skills.
One memorable moment that stands out in Tshering’s work was when he supported a customer who doubted his ability to play basketball. With gentle encouragement and a focus on fun rather than competition, Tshering helped him discover his hidden talent.
Some people with disability believe they’re not capable. By motivating and encouraging them, those beliefs can change. As a Support Worker, I can be an agent of change, and I learn from them too.”
Tshering finds motivation in the idea that everyone has unique abilities waiting to be unlocked. Through creative engagement and genuine encouragement, he helps people challenge their self-perceptions and discover new strengths. He is particularly inspired by customers who show progress in independence, mobility, and physical health.
Working at Interchange has been a positive experience for Tshering. He appreciates the friendly and supportive environment fostered by both coworkers and leadership. Looking ahead, Tshering aspires to continue his journey as a Support Worker. He is eager to take on more shifts, deepen his knowledge, and gain further experience in the field of disability support.
